2022 A Year in Review (Part 2)
Edited on March 30th, 2025:
Welcome lovelies and beau’s! With the end of the year just hours away, it’s the perfect time to reflect on 2022. I came across a set of questions by Harshita titled, “39 Questions You Must Answer Before Starting 2023,” and thought it’d be a fun way to wrap up the year. So grab your phone or a pencil and paper, and let’s dive in!
1) What are a few things I am grateful for that happened this year?
There’s a lot to be grateful for this year. I stepped out of my comfort zone, tried new foods, and expanded my horizons in ways I hadn’t expected. I also had the pleasure of meeting new people along the way. Above all, I’m thankful for the quality time spent with family and friends that made this year even more meaningful.
2) What was 2022 like for me?
2022 was definitely a wild ride. There were plenty of ups and downs, but when I look back, it was an overall fun year with a lot of memorable moments.
3) What was the highlight of this year?
The highlight of 2022 for me was creating a new space for myself. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I made this year, offering a fresh perspective and new opportunities.
4) What were the challenges I faced?
2022 certainly came with its fair share of challenges, from a can of soda landing on my toe to needing stitches—there were definitely some painful moments. There were a few other unexpected mishaps as well, like my parked car getting damaged in a parking lot, and two rocks hitting my windshield and front bumper. Despite these setbacks, I gained a lot of insight. The one thing I took away from all of these situations is that they were entirely out of my control.
5) What are some lessons I learned that I will take with me?
I’ve learned the importance of following my heart and allowing myself to make mistakes, knowing that each experience is an opportunity to grow. I also discovered that I enjoy talking to people more than I thought. While I’m not quite ready to call myself an extrovert, I find conversations fascinating, especially when I’m out doing my own thing. Growing up, I was shy and reserved, but as I continue to learn more about myself with each passing year, I’ve come to appreciate the connections I make along the way.
6) Did I follow my passion this year? If not, why?
Yes, I did. This year, I made a conscious effort to embrace the things that truly bring me joy. I allowed myself to spend more time doing what felt right and in tune with my heart, and I’m grateful for the experiences that came with it.
7) Write about a favorite memory of this year.
For my birthday, my friend and I went to an outdoor zip lining course. It was exciting! However, as I have gotten older, I am starting to like heights less and less. But it was a great experience!! I would definitely do it again.
Also, took a hiking trip to Devil’s Lake. A place I have wanted to go for awhile. It was no joke. The steep climb to the top was strenuous but definitely worth the view!!
8) What was the most significant risk I took this year?
This year, I took a step toward being more open and allowing myself to lean on others when needed. I’ve found it easier to be more genuine and let down some of the walls I had built in the past. It’s been a rewarding experience to not hold back and to reach out for support when I need it.
9) How was my mental health in 2022?
I originally misread this question, thinking it was asking how my year went overall. Honestly, it felt a bit all over the place due to a series of inconveniences—like a bruised toe, needing stitches, and dealing with car damage back-to-back-to-back. It was an overwhelming time, and those challenges definitely took a toll on my mental health. But once those issues were resolved or I had healed up, I felt such a relief, and my mental health improved greatly. It was a reminder of how important it is to take things one step at a time.
10) What is something that I will leave/let go of in the past?
This one is a bit tricky, but I think I’ll leave behind my insecurities and the habit of overthinking. It’s something I’ve carried with me for a while, but I’m ready to let go and move forward with more confidence and peace of mind.
11) Compared to 2021, how much have I changed in 2022?
I’ve experienced a lot of growth this year. I’m more confident and independent, and while there are still ups and downs, I can say that I’m generally more content with where I am now compared to last year. It’s been a year of positive change and learning more about myself.
12) What financial changes did I make in 2022, and how did they go?
It’s definitely a work in progress. I’ve made some changes and started focusing more on my financial goals, but there’s still room to grow and improve. The year has been a learning experience, and I’m taking it step by step.
13) I forgive myself for...
For not always having everything figured out and for the mistakes I’ve made along the way. It’s all part of the journey, and I’m learning to embrace those moments as lessons.
14) How do I feel about navigating the new year 2023? Am I excited, or will I miss 2022?
I’m definitely excited for what 2023 has in store. There’s a lot of potential for new experiences and opportunities, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it takes me. While 2022 had its moments, I’m ready to embrace the adventures of the new year.
