Flew into the New Year
Edited on March 30th, 2025:
Welcome lovelies and beau’s, I had this vision in my head of flying into the new year, full of new ideas and activities, ready to start the year strong. But instead, I FLU into the new year. Yes, you read that right – I was sick again at the end of the year, and not just any time, but the exact same weekend as last year. What are the odds? The forces are strong in my life!
Honestly, being sick gave me some much-needed perspective and reminded me of just how grateful I am for my health. While 2022 had its fair share of minor health hiccups—like dropping a can of soda on my foot—I hadn’t been this sick in a while. I ended up with a bad case of the flu, and it took a while to feel like myself again. Though I only missed three days of work and needed a doctor's note for the first time in my life, I was actually sick for a total of 13 days. It wasn’t until about day seven that my energy started returning, and I wasn’t constantly exhausted. That burst of energy was such a relief!
And while it might sound a little crazy, I’m almost grateful for starting the year off sick (minus missing New Year’s celebrations for the second year in a row!). It’s a reminder of how fragile life is, and how precious it is to wake up every day with the chance to go after whatever you set your mind to. Sure, we all have hurdles in life to face, but life itself is a gift. Whether it’s an injury, illness, the loss of a loved one, a breakup, or a failure, sometimes it takes these experiences to remind us of the bigger picture. The truth is, we can overcome any obstacle that stands in our way. Life isn’t meant to be taken too seriously; instead, we should take the time to enjoy each moment, live fully in the present, and make ourselves proud by following our hearts and achieving our goals.
I hope you never have to face any of those tough situations, but when life presents them, I hope you're able to find the silver lining in the struggle. No matter how challenging it may seem, there’s always a light that can shine through the darkness, a lesson to be learned from failure, and a deeper love that comes after heartbreak.
As Mary Ann Radmacher wisely said, “It’s possible to find a silver lining in every situation. The harder it is to find, the brighter it will shine.”
Wishing you all a beautiful, fun, and amazing week ahead! I’d love to hear about your experiences, so feel free to comment below and share how you celebrated the new year – let’s spread some positivity and joy!
As a signature of my blog, I’d like to end this post with a suggestion to “Pass on kindness.” There’s no time like the present to Inspire Those Who Inspire You. Acts of kindness, no matter how big or small, can have a direct, positive impact on someone else. Go out there today and change someone’s life for the better!
