The Countdown is On

When I was younger, I used to have this calendar. It was in the shape of a Christmas tree. It had a pocket for each day as it was one of those advent calendars. Each year, I would look forward to counting down the days until Christmas. Mainly because the calendar would be filled with treats, sweets, and gifts.

Each night I would go to bed and look forward to what the next day would bring. It was an exciting time and a delightful experience. It is no wonder why years later I think back to that period of my life with a smile on my face.

So of course, the past couple years, I have thought about getting an advent calendar to once again, count down the days until Christmas. To experience the magic of Christmas as well as the holiday spirit. That is exactly what I did this year. I went on the search to find the perfect advent calendar for me. I was looking for gummies or sweets of some kind. And I found the perfect one, “Sugarfina’s 24 Tastes of Christmas - A candy tasting collection”.

Below are the following candies in order:

Day 1 - Chocolate covered cookie dough. I am not a big cookie person, however, this one grew on me. To me, it tasted more like a chocolate covered Oreo than cookie dough but I enjoyed every bit.

Day 2 - Cookies and Cream. This one tastes exactly like cookie dough. It has a cute shape of a donut which made it more appealing to me.

Day 3 - Merry Berries. This is one of my favorites in the whole set. I enjoy berry flavors and this was the perfect medium between gummy and chewy.

Day 4 - Holiday Presents. These were regular gummies. The only difference is they were in the shape of presents. And although the flavor was more subtle, it was nice.

Day 5 - Raspberry Eiffel Tower. These are similar to the holiday presents as they are ordinary gummies. However, the Eiffel Tower’s had slightly more flavor than the presents. I enjoyed these too.

Day 6 - Holidays Hearts. These ones are so cute. I love the shape and color. This did not taste like an everyday gummy. I would argue it was a bit sweeter and the consistency was a bit thicker, I believe.

Day 7 - Little Snowmen. The snowman appears as though it would be as sour as Sweet and Sour Patch Kids, however, it only had a slight punch to it.

Day 8 - Sparkling Stars. Similar to the little snowmen, this one also appears to be more sour than it actual is. I will say this one did taste a little more sour. It could also be the flavor. The pineapple was giving more sour vibes.

Day 9 - Petite Strawberries. This gummy is a different consistency. It is easier to chew but it is thicker overall. Also, you guessed it, it tasted like strawberries.

Day 10 - Riptide Raspberries. The raspberries are similar to the att he strawberries in thickness and chewiness. The difference between the one is the flavor. This one tastes like raspberries.

Day 11 - Sprinkle Donuts. This donut is so cute. Although it is covered in what tastes like white chocolate, there is wafer underneath. I enjoyed setting the wafer.

Day 12 - Birthday Cake Cookies. This is cookie dough ball. I think the cookie dough flavor is a lot more prominent in this form then the donut form. The taste is surely apt stronger.

Day 13 - Candy Cane Caramels. First bite, it tastes exactly like a Mint Meltaway. But then, near the end, I tasted caramel. It was a nice treat.

Day 14 - Peach Bum. Similar to the texture of the Petite Strawberries and Riptide Raspberries, the only difference here is that this one tasted like a peach/pineapple.

Day 15 - Peach Hearts. These are another favorite. The Peach Hearts taste exactly like Peach Rings. Also, the shape and design are cute.

Day 16 - Island Pineapples. Again, the same texture as the Riptide Raspberries, Petite Strawberries, and Peach Bum. The only exception is that this pineapple flavor is strong. It has stronger flavor than the other three combined.

Day 17 - Banana Gummies. One more the consistency of the Banana gummies is the same of the Island Pineapples, Riptide Strawberries, Peach Bum, and Petite Strawberries. And although the banana flavor is strong, the actual flavor is more unique. Banana flavored gummy is not a common occurrence.

Day 18 - Apple Frogs. Not only am I a big green apple flavor fan but I also love frogs. This is another favorite of mine. It is a regular gummy just in the shape of a frog and it tastes exactly like green apple.

Day 19 - Santa’s Trees. These trees are ordinary gummies in the shape of Christmas trees. However, they have slightly more flavor than the Eiffel Towers. But it is the design that stands out. These gummies have a lot of detail.

Day 20 - Rainbow Bears. Just as these look like mundane gummy bears, just as they are, their texture is similar to regular gummies. However, the first rainbow gummy I had tasted like Rosé. The next one tasted similar to champagne.

Day 21 - Baby Whales. I love the design on this one as well, especially the whale’s smile. Also, the color is beautiful. This particular gummy tasted like blue raspberry to me. I enjoyed it.

Day 22 - Heavenly Sours. Now these ones were sour. It was yummy but sour. There was no sweetness as with a Sweet and Sour Patch Kid.

Day 23 - Ice Cream Cones. The consistency for these Ice Cream Cones was the same consistency as the bananas, strawberries, peaches, pineapples, etc. However, the flavor tastes exactly like those gummy hamburgers/pizza from my childhood. It was delicious!

Day 24 - Milk Chocolate Donuts. These are exactly like the Sprinkle Donuts except that it is milk chocolate covering the wafer. Yum.

Each day there would be four candies. It gave me the opportunity to share with family members, so they could enjoy the experience as well. It was the nostalgia that made me do it. And I am glad I did it. Not only was the candy and other sweets delicious, each day was a treat.

As a signature of this blog, I like to end each post with a suggestion to “Pass on kindness”. After all, there is no such time as the present to “Inspire Those Who Inspire You”. Passing on kindness, does need to be this big, elaborate ordeal.  You could smile at a stranger, compliment something you love about someone’s outfit or personality, tell someone how proud you are of them or that you thinking of them. Even small acts can have a huge impact on someone.
